Songbird

Songbird

Evidently Songbird is a USC student film, quite short and simple. The only characters are a couple—not including pets, who play a prominent role. It has no dialogue, and is shot in kind of a herky jerky fashion. The events depicted are exaggerated beyond realism for effect.

A wife is treated as basically a slave by her abusive, excessively crude (don’t make the mistake of watching this while you’re eating, as I did) husband, until she gets her revenge and frees herself.

She may even be a witch or something, since a little magic is thrown in at the end. I thought that was unnecessary, as all it did was make me wonder what she’d been doing in that situation to begin with if she had “powers.”

An OK little film.
